El Escorial and Salamanca: Day 1

El Escorial in Spain is an old castle essentially...lots of tombs, lots of pictures, lots of old furniture...really pretty, it was cool architecture and history. It's now a palace, monastery, school, and museum. I believe our tour guide said it was the most well-preserved library in the world.

We had Chinese food for lunch. It was pretty yummy, but WAAAAAAY too much food. And the waiter poured Katelyn a GLASS of wine. It was pretty legit.

Our hotel was awesome. A lot nicer than we expected. And we got BREAKFAST!!

Salamanca's Plaza Mayor

Some pictures of Salamanca...the building with the shells on it is the public library...other than that, not really remembering exactly what everything was...it kind of started looking the same to me. But it was all really pretty!

Alli's boyfriend is studying in Salamanca for the semester, so he showed us a really cheap cider bar...essentially two glasses of cider and a tapa for 1.90 Euro. Cider wasn't very apple-y, but it was pretty good. To correctly pour it, they have to pour it from a height, which is kind of cool.

  2. True that.
I like Ari sized glasses of wine.
If I could pack wine in my carry-on suitcase to your wedding, I totally would bring some screwtop hogue.
